FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Find answers to the most common questions about Rinaldi tires, including information on use, maintenance and recommendations.

The right tire should be chosen according to the motorcycle, the size specified by the manufacturer, the type of use and the conditions in which the motorcycle will be ridden. Consult the motorcycle owner’s manual and the applications available in the Rinaldi catalog.

Check the motorcycle owner’s manual for the recommended size, load index and speed rating. You can also check tire applications on the Rinaldi website.

The recommended size can be found in the owner’s manual and, on many models, is also indicated on the tire itself. Always confirm the specification recommended by the motorcycle manufacturer before replacing the tire.

Only when that size is recommended or has proven compatibility with the motorcycle. Changing the tire size without proper guidance may affect the motorcycle’s handling, stability and safety.

Front and rear tires are developed to perform specific functions.

In the front position, the tire primarily contributes to steering, stability and braking. In the rear position, the tire transmits most of the engine power to the ground and is responsible for traction and performance

Not necessarily. The tire must be used in the position for which it was developed and specified by the manufacturer. In addition, during installation, it is important to follow the direction of rotation indicated on the tire sidewall to ensure proper operation and performance.

It may be possible, provided that the combination is compatible with the motorcycle and complies with the size, load, speed, mounting position and application specifications of each tire. A combination suitable for the motorcycle’s design is recommended.

It depends on the motorcycle and the type of use. For predominantly urban or highway use, choose a tire developed for paved surfaces and compatible with your motorcycle.

Ideally, use a tire developed for this type of terrain. The choice depends on the road conditions and the motorcycle. Rinaldi offers specific options for different applications on unpaved and uneven terrain.

They are developed with tread patterns, compounds and structures suited to different types of terrain.

Road tires prioritize characteristics suited to paved surfaces, while off-road tires are developed to provide traction and control on unpaved terrain.

It depends on the model. Use on public roads is permitted only when the tire has the certifications required for that purpose.

In Brazil, the tire must be certified by INMETRO.

Always check the application specified by the manufacturer before using the tire on public roads.

It depends on the model. Enduro and Motocross have specific construction and tread design requirements. Before using a tire in a competition, check whether it is intended for that discipline.

Yes. Rinaldi offers tires developed for mixed use, combining characteristics suitable for both paved and unpaved roads.

The correct pressure is the pressure recommended by the motorcycle manufacturer. This information is normally provided in the owner’s manual and may also be indicated on a label on the motorcycle.

Tire pressure should be checked regularly, preferably when the tires are cold. It is also important to check the pressure before trips and after extended periods without use.

Ideally, tire pressure should be checked and adjusted when the tire is cold, as heat increases internal pressure and affects the reading.

Low tire pressure can increase heat buildup and tire wear, impair stability, increase fuel consumption and alter the behavior of the motorcycle, as well as compromise the tire structure.

Pressure above the recommended level may reduce the contact area with the ground, affect handling and cause uneven wear.

Regularly check tread wear, the TWI and the overall condition of the tire.

When the tire reaches the TWI or shows cuts, bulges, deformation or other damage, it must be replaced.

Off-road tires do not have a TWI, and wear is assessed visually.

TWI stands for “Tread Wear Indicator” and is the tread wear indicator. When the tire reaches the TWI level, it must be replaced.

There is no single mileage figure. Tire life depends on factors such as the motorcycle, load, speed, riding style, type of surface, temperature, storage and tire pressure. The tire should be inspected regularly.

The date marked on the tire indicates when it was manufactured and should not automatically be regarded as an “expiration date”. Whether the tire remains suitable for use depends on its age, storage, condition, wear and overall state. If in doubt, consult a qualified professional.

Uneven wear may be related to incorrect tire pressure, overloading, installation, balancing, alignment, suspension, wheels or the conditions in which the motorcycle is used.

They indicate characteristics such as size, construction type, rim diameter, load index and speed rating. For example, in 120/90-17, the first number indicates the nominal width, the second indicates the aspect ratio and the last indicates the rim diameter in inches.

It is the number that indicates the maximum load capacity the tire can support under the conditions established for its specification.

It is the letter that indicates the maximum speed for which the tire is rated under its specified conditions of use.

TL means “Tubeless,” a tire developed for use without an inner tube.

TT means “Tube Type,” a tire developed for use with an inner tube.

The manufacturing date is marked on the tire sidewall. It appears as a four-digit code indicating the week and year of manufacture. For example, 0412 corresponds to the 4th week of 2012.

Yes. During the first few miles, it is recommended that you ride carefully and avoid sudden acceleration, braking and leaning.

It is not recommended. Cuts, bulges, deformation or other damage may compromise the tire structure and safety. Consult a qualified professional for an assessment.

Repair is not recommended, as it may compromise the tire’s characteristics, particularly its balance and performance. In addition, repaired tires are not eligible for warranty coverage.

Installation should be performed by a qualified professional using the proper tools and procedures. Incorrect installation may damage the tire or wheel and compromise safety.

The tire must be installed in the position specified by the manufacturer and in accordance with the indicated direction of rotation, where applicable.

Specifications are available on each product page on the Rinaldi website, including sizes, applications, mounting position, load index, speed rating and mounting type.

Certifications and approvals depend on the product and application. Rinaldi offers products with different certifications and approvals in accordance with the requirements of each market and category. Check the product page for the specific certifications applicable to each model.

DOT is an identification related to tire requirements and compliance for the U.S. market. The marking also provides tire information, including its manufacturing date.

E-Mark is a marking related to the approval of automotive components in accordance with regulations applicable in Europe and in countries that adopt those regulations.

Not necessarily. The requirement depends on the type of tire, category, application and regulations currently in force. Therefore, the rules applicable to each product must be checked.

If you identify a possible product-related issue, stop using the tire and contact Rinaldi’s Warranty Department. Have the purchase receipt and tire information available to facilitate the process.
