New 110/70-14 TL and 110/70-17 TL tires expand applications for scooters and mid-displacement motorcycles and strengthen the brand’s portfolio in the replacement market
Rinaldi, a recognized Brazilian manufacturer of tires and inner tubes, is expanding its SS48 line with the launch of two new sizes: 110/70-14 TL Front and 110/70-17 TL Front. The new products reinforce the company’s strategy of expanding its presence in the tubeless (TL) tire segment, keeping pace with the evolution of the Brazilian market and offering an increasingly comprehensive portfolio for the replacement market.
The 110/70-14 TL Front size was developed for front-wheel application on automatic scooters, particularly the Honda PCX 160 and similar models, completing the set with the rear size already available in the brand’s portfolio. The new 110/70-17 TL Front, in turn, is intended for mid-displacement street and sport motorcycles ranging from 250 cc to 400 cc, pairing with the 150/60-17 rear size and serving models such as the Honda CB 300, Yamaha Fazer 250, Kawasaki Ninja and similar motorcycles.
With a sporty profile, aggressive design and tubeless construction, both sizes expand the SS48 line’s presence in segments that have been growing at rates above the average for the Brazilian motorcycle market.
“The main reason for developing these new sizes was to complement the SS48 line and better meet riders’ needs. With the 110/70-14, we completed the set for the Honda PCX, one of the best-selling models in the country. The 110/70-17, meanwhile, completes the set for mid-displacement motorcycles, further expanding our application coverage”, says Camila Scarton, Rinaldi’s Research & Development Technical Manager.
Recognized for its performance under different conditions of use, the SS48 line delivers excellent performance on both dry and wet surfaces, providing grip, stability and safety for urban and highway mobility.
According to Camila, development followed the same standards applied to the company’s other products. “The SS48 was developed in accordance with Rinaldi’s rigorous engineering process. Our goal is always to deliver the best balance of performance, safety and durability across all our on-road lines”.
Expanding market – The new products are arriving at a time of transformation in the Brazilian market, driven by the growth of vehicles equipped with alloy wheels and tubeless tires. According to Ivanor Bonato, Rinaldi’s National Sales Manager, both sizes have significant market potential because they serve rapidly expanding segments.
“The 110/70-14 size serves the automatic scooter segment, while the 110/70-17 is used on mid-displacement street and sport motorcycles, two markets that have been growing faster than the industry average. Having these new sizes in our portfolio is an important advantage for Rinaldi and strengthens our presence in the replacement market”.
The greatest sales potential remains concentrated in major urban centers such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Campinas and Santos, as well as Brazil’s major state capitals, where motorcycles are more widely used as a means of transportation.
The target audience ranges from riders who use their motorcycles daily for urban transportation to delivery riders, motorcycle couriers and owners of mid-displacement motorcycles looking for tires offering high durability, safety and performance.
According to Bonato, the launches are part of an ongoing plan to expand the SS48 family. “Demand for tubeless tires continues to grow steadily. Today, motorcycles already leave the factory equipped with TL tires, and the replacement market is following this trend. The expansion of the SS48 family reinforces our commitment to keeping pace with this trend by offering new sizes and applications in line with market needs”.
The company expects to increase its share of the replacement market from the current 11% to 20% over the course of 2026. With the two new products, the SS48 family now comprises 12 sizes (80/100-18, 2.75-18, 60/100-17, 100/90-18, 100/80-14, 90/90-18, 80/100-14, 150/60-17, 120/80-17, 110/70-17, 110/70-14 and 70/90-17), consolidating its presence in the on-road segment.
According to Bonato, the market evolution points to tubeless tires becoming firmly established over the next few years. “In the past, motorcycles equipped with spoked wheels and tube-type tires predominated. Today, with the growth of scooters and mid-displacement street motorcycles equipped with alloy wheels, TL tires have become standard equipment for motorcycle manufacturers as well as in the replacement market. Rinaldi is keeping pace with this technological evolution by offering products that combine safety, durability and a sporty design that meets the demands of today’s riders”.
